Happy Canada Day 2009!

Even though we didn't do anything particularly special for our Canada Day this year, we had a lovely day of family. My Seestor is back in town, and I finally got to meet her boy-toy for the very first time. We had a family brekkie at my parents' house this morning, which was nice to do. We don't do brekkie enough, I think!

It was also wonderful to spend some time at home with my very own little family, just chilling all afternoon and evening.

It's been a long time (a VERY LONG time!) since I took my camera out and took pictures just for me. I'm so busy in the summers with taking pictures for clients, which I love doing, but it doesn't always feed my soul. So I puttered around the garden this evening, documenting this summer's flowers and garden, and just the little moments that I might otherwise let pass me by.

Here are a few of our Canada Day pictorial highlights:

It's not Canada Day without Canada Dry!

Are there going to be fireworks tonight?

Really? Not cool, Momo.

My first ripe Tumbler tomatoes from my hanging basket!

Although there are TONS more to ripen!

But a few were ready for our salad this evening.

One jalapeno is ripe for the picking!

The peonies are almost done blooming...

And the honeybees were out!

Some plant I planted from a seed mix... I have no idea what it is!

Can you see the baby zucchinis?

And this is my Limelight hydrangea, budding!!

My violas are going CRAZY!

This is my Midnight Blue lobelia, and its colour is SO AMAZING. This photo doesn't quite capture the electric blue of these flowers. They're so electric, they almost hurt your eyeballs to stare at them!

Are those fireworks I hear?

Oh yah, it was a good day!

You have the cutest puppies and the most beautiful garden! Wow! I'm seriously impressed by all of that green goodness.

And you totally captured the essence of that Canada Dry can, kudos. Heehee :)

Natasha, those photos are amazing! I'm a huge dog lover so I'm drawn to any photo with any breed of dog in them. Love the photos of flowers and food -- I am a woman afterall. HAHA

Love your bio too! I don't know why everyone says we say "abooot" -- I get that alot when we are on vacation outside of Canada. I don't know ANYONE who pronounces it like that. ;)

Keep up the great work. Wish you lived closer to me so I could book a photo session!

Your peonies are gorgeous! I really wish those worked in our region, but it's not the optimal conditions. Your violas are super happy!

Your viola's are beautiful. And you said you are using a hanging basket for the tomatoes... how is it working out for you? I've thought about trying it but didn't know if it would actually work.
